ABOUT
Sound Around Town is a citizen scientist driven study of urban soundscapes and how individuals are impacted by them.
Project Goals:
- Improve NPS National Sound Map with volunteer-collected soundscape recordings from residences across cities in the US.
- Investigate spatial and temporal relationships between anthropogenic sounds and biotic sounds in residential landscapes.
- Map disparities in soundscapes (anthropogenic and natural) and noise (perceptions sounds) across and among neighborhoods in cities.
- Investigate links between participation in Sound Around Town and awareness, feelings, and efficacy about soundscapes and noise pollution.
