Sound Around Town is a citizen scientist driven study of urban soundscapes and how individuals are impacted by them.
There are 4 main project goals:
- 1. Improve NPS National Sound Map with volunteer-collected soundscape recordings from residences across cities in the US.
- 2. Investigate how human-related and natural sounds vary in space and time across residential landscapes.
- 3. Map differences in soundscapes (human-related and natural) and noise (perceptions of sounds) across and among neighborhoods in cities.
- 4. Investigate links between participation in Sound Around Town and awareness, feelings, and effectiveness about soundscapes and noise pollution.
